OK, so yesterday, standing next to Putin our dear president says
“My people came to me, Dan Coats came to me and some others, they said they think it’s Russia. I have President Putin; he just said it’s not Russia. I will say this: I don’t see any reason why it would be.”
Now today he’s coming out saying oh it was all a mistake, he meant “I don’t see any reason why it wouldn’t be.”
Really? Are we stooping to this level of childishness ? If you look at the entire context of everything that was said on that podium, and all his tweeting undermining intelligence and the investigation beforehand...now, suddenly we’re supposed to believe he meant the exact opposite?
Also - even though he got plenty of flak from members of congress his base still ate up everything he said and supported him 100%. Curious how they’ll manage to do a complete 180 now on their position. But have no fear, they will.
This is grade school level drama. Will the republicans call him out? I’m not going to hold my breath...they’ll probably just take him at his word and say all is well with the world again.

I hear ya. I’m just a lowly immigrant, I can’t even vote yet. Maybe by 2020 but applying for a change of status appears to be getting harder thanks to this administration as well, so who knows.
He won the electoral college by some pretty slim margins in a couple of key states. So there may be enough disgruntled people that may just be enough to swing things the other way next time…or things will continue to get worse (how much worse, seriously?!). But that’s not showing a whole lot of confidence in the voting public, and will do nothing to fix the issues that are so apparent today. Also, pretty laughable to think that would be the end of Trump being an attention hog after that. I fear we’re stuck with him for as long as he lives at this point.

The trouble with diametric politics as it exists today is that “throw the bums out” will cut both ways. Republicans are the bums that will be thrown out this cycle on a campaign of “seriously, anyone but these guys” and next cycle it will be the dems. makes it hard to get anything positive done since its all just infighting and party politics.

I grew up there, so a bit biased but I would highly recommend it. Colombo has become an overcrowded disaster, but the rest of the country is still quite wonderful and has a huge variety of terrains/climates/history/ cultures/food.

The whole of the house and senate is, while maybe not in total agreeance on what to do, behind the idea of some kind of repercussions to limit the damage the president can do. Lindsey Graham said something to the effect of “Russia didn’t hack the election, but they did meddle in it. Even so, Trump won over Clinton. BUT! What he said today is wrong and these actions need to be punished!” Other representatives are drafting everything from impeachment (not likely) to limits on the presidents control over the military and possibly even trade negotiations (....pretty damn likely, if given time).
And if this is even a gaffe, that’s like going up in front of Britain and being like “I hate you guys! Oops, I meant to say like! My bad!”. Wait, no he fucking did that too WHATTHEFUCKINGSHITNIUOGREVIKBVR:HEWBKRVLFHBKJLE.....
Anyways....Yeah no, everyone finally got collectively pissed enough.
But hey, are we tired of all the winning yet?

Most tourists are European, though moneyed Asians are becoming more common now too. Fewer Americans for sure. Most beaches are desolate like this, it’s really amazing- early morning is my favorite, before things get too hot.
It still hasn’t quite exploded as a tourist destination, so unless you’re right outside a major resort the beaches will be completely empty (even at resorts it’s nothing like a busy beach in the US). Plus the locals don’t sunbathe, and in general have a surprising fear of water for an island nation (to a certain degree maybe it’s justified post-tsunami, plus waters can be rough and life guards are non-existent). To this date, as a 33 y/o adult, I make a point to not mention to my parents when I swim in the ocean even in the US, they’d have a panic attack :)
Economy is booming and no more war, so tourism is on the rise. Highly recommend as a great budget destination – plus the Maldives is just a hop away, and absolutely amazing (just for the snorkeling /diving, culture-wise there is none).

These people are so damn stupid, I don’t know how else to describe them. But not only stupid but blindingly biased. If their same stupidity extended when the other side was in power I’d say that’s all it was…but they only take whatever Trump says or does at his word. Anything Obama or Clinton or anyone else did, nope. Evil. Even the economy…now they suddenly see oh we’re in good times! Nevermind that it is just a direct extension of the recovery we’ve been going through for the last 8 years or so.
I accept that everyone has biases, but this is to a dangerous level where anyone who goes against Trump, or anything the other side sees as better for the country, clearly needs to be stopped because they’re traitors trying to ruin this president who is saving our country!
